ASIA-PACIFIC Winter SCHOOL ON BIO-INSPIRED SYSTEMS AND PROSTHETIC DEVICES (BioPRO) 2016
5th to 9th of December 2016
UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS, PERAK, MALAYSIA
BioPro is considered as analogous to the annual cognitive neuromorphic workshops in Telluride for the US region and in CapoCaccia for the European region. The ultimate goal of the annual Asia-Pacific workshop is promoting the applications of bio-inspired systems to real industrial or medical problems. BioPro has been held in Taiwan from 2009 to 2015, with the support from IEEE Circuits and Systems Society under Outreach Initiative. This year BioPro will be organized by IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (Malaysia Chapter) as one of the IEEE Seasonal Schools in Circuits and Systems, in collaboration with Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, UTP and National Tsing Hua University . The hosts are Tong Boon Tang (UTP) and Hsin Chen (NTHU).
BIOPRO GOALS
Through BioPro, many scholars, including young researchers, can gain a deeper understanding on the multi-disciplinary researches of bio-inspired systems and prosthetic devices, and thus devote themselves to related research.
Furthermore, there will be opportunity to interact with international scholars (Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia etc.), and thus promote long-term international collaboration. This will not only result in complementing each other in research, but also providing more opportunities for student exchange and international collaboration. BioPro is a platform for research innovations and career development for students.
PRACTICAL SESSIONS
Daily Hands-On Project sessions, with project presentation on the final day of the school.
SPECIAL SESSION ON MICROFLUIDICS
Leading experts from different universities will present the latest advances in novel microfluidics research, and address a range of different challenges at the interface of engineering, medicine and biological sciences.
